Statement
“I once asked my son, 16 at the time, what he expected his future would hold. His reply was bleak, citing environmental degradation well beyond Earth’s viability. He feared there wouldn’t be a future for him. This was the day I became a sort of reluctant nihilist.
My work is a warning that imagines the coming coalescence of environmental and psychological degradation leading to the eventual collapse of social structures and the illusion of our humanity. I source found photographs of war and human atrocities as evidential reference for what has, is, and will continue. I then formalize existential anxieties through color and shape.”
